Day counter
How to count the days between two dates
In short
Count from the start date to the end date, not including the end date. From 7 October to 25 December 2026 is 79 days: 11 weeks and 2 days, or 2 months and 18 days. Tick “Include end date” to count both days, which gives 80.

How to use the days between dates calculator
- Choose a start date and an end date. Either can be in the past or the future, and the order does not matter.
- Tick Include end date if both days should count, for example for a hotel stay counted in days or a leave request.
- Read the total in days, then the same span as weeks and days, months and days, and weekdays versus weekend days.
Should you include the end date?
By default the count is the number of days you move forward on a calendar to get from one date to the other, which is how ages, deadlines and countdowns are measured. Some things count every day in the range instead.
| Counting style | Result | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Without end date | 4 days | Time until a deadline, age, notice periods |
| Including end date | 5 days | Days of leave, event days, medication courses |
How many working days are between two dates?
Weekdays are Monday to Friday. The calculator counts them across the same span (start date included, end date included only when you tick the box). Public holidays differ by country and are not taken off, so subtract the ones that apply to you.
Why months are counted separately from days
Months are 28 to 31 days long, so “2 months and 18 days” is counted on the calendar: whole months up to the same day of the month, then the remaining days. Dividing days by 30 would drift by several days over a year.
To measure a span from a birth date, the Age Calculator uses the same rules and adds the age-specific results. For the days left until a birthday, use the Birthday Countdown.
Common questions
How many days are there between two dates?
Enter both dates above. The result is the number of days from the start date to the end date, with the option to include the end date as well.
Does the day counter include leap years?
Yes. It counts real calendar days, so any 29 February in the range is included.
How do I count weeks between two dates?
The result shows the span as whole weeks plus leftover days, for example 79 days = 11 weeks and 2 days.
Are public holidays taken off the working-day count?
No. Holidays differ by country and region, so the weekday total counts Monday to Friday only. Subtract any holidays that apply to you.
